PRELUDE. The usual tradition, is to play music for one half hour before the actual time of the wedding. Most of your guests come early enough to spend time in the sanctuary area prior to the wedding. This helps to prepare the atmosphere for your ceremony. The assortment of music played at this time, about 12 pieces, should be a variety of styles which will please your guests. The choices can be left to Joyce or you can take part in planning this music according to your preferences.
PROCESSIONAL. The all important wedding rehearsal is a chance for you to become familiar with the ceremonial music. Usually the Mother’s music, the Bridesmaids procession, and the Bridal procession are played so that you can be comfortable with knowing when to enter and how slowly you can walk down the aisle with the help of the musical tempo.
RECESSIONAL. The exit from the church or place of the ceremony should give a sense of joyous celebration. The guest will also be exiting , usually a row at a time, and music will be played until everyone leaves the area. Having Joyce play this music at your rehearsal will enable you to float through this action with lots of self-confidence.
RECEPTION. Harp music for the reception is usually a very welcome feature for the guests. Some brides, wanting to take time for photos in the sanctuary, find that having music in the reception area keeps the guests contented for that period of time. If you plan to have a seated meal, harp or harp and string music provide background music without interfering with conversations. Many brides hire a disc jockey for the dancing after dinner. Another alternative is to have an electric piano provide this entertainment with some dancing. Joyce has the equipment – piano, amps, mics, etc. for this kind of celebrative sound.
The harp is one of the most ancient instruments and the Laws of the Universe respond to the vibrating strings. The result of listening to the harp is a peaceful and serene sensation. For your very special wedding ceremony, you can create a sense of timelessness, reverence, peace, and elegance by choosing a harpist to play your ceremonial music.
